After the Great Ecological Catastrophe brings about massive environmental destruction, on a scale never seen before - causing most of the Earth's population to die in misery - the dromes will finally intervene.
Dromes have decided they like the Earth very much. They are itching for an excuse to take over. If you ever saw their home planet in Andromeda, you'd understand why they are so keen on ours.
Though dromes have been studying the Earth for centuries - often for their school projects - they've taken great care not to be seen. As a diversion, they've created stories about little green men from Zeta Centauri and created illusions of flying saucers, to put us dumb humans off the scent. (Dromes have a sick sense of humour. If one starts waving its feeler at you, run and hide in a deep hole.)
